David and Brenda just got a new computer. David was worried about getting one because he did not feel comfortable with them, but Brenda uses one at work all the time so she convinced him they need one at home. When they first started the computer, they had to register the operating system software with the software company. David was worried that if he registered, the company could access his bank accounts, but Brenda assured him they could not. After they registered, David saw a warning but he could not figure out what it meant. Brenda came to help. She told him the computer wanted him to allocate more memory to local files so it could function faster. She said the computer will sometimes warn of problems on the display so the user can avoid these problems. She also said it is easy to ignore many of the warnings, but some of them are very serious. A few hours later, David wanted to duplicate a file he borrowed from his friend, but he could not figure out how to do it. Brenda helped again when she told him it was impossible because the file was incompatible with their computer. David really wanted to copy the files, so he searched for a way to do it on the internet. He could not find it, so he began to try different things. Then Brenda walked by and asked what he was doing. She noticed that the files were gone. In fact, David had deleted the files, and he didn't even know it! Brenda did a search on the computer, and found an archived copy for him. David felt relieved, becuase he did not want to tell his friend that he had erased the files. David's biggest accomplishment was to make mistakes and still feel good about learning how to use the computer. Have A Great Suggestion for Vocabulary About This Topic?
