The squirrels friends

The winter was being hard for all rodents. The seeds , specially nuts ,that was their favorite food, was scarce. The trees had lost almost all its leaves , and its naked branches showed just a few fruit . Two squirrels friends took turns keeping an eye on a giant walnut, while a few nuts weren't mature enough to be picked up. Soon they could do it and then would put all of it away to feed them for a while. Those nuts represented their survival and they could not let anyone steal it. Tim was in his turn to watch it , but so tired and weak he fell asleep. Being alert all the time, feeling so hungry, it was not an easy task. Suddenly, a weird noise woke him up and he started yelling , waking his friend. A strange squirrel had climbed the tree and was trying to steal the biggest nuts. They fought bravely to recover their precious food, until scare their enemy away. Unfortunatelly, that was not the worst danger they had to face. They realized it when, shaking frightened for a sudden deafening sound, they fell down the tree. So they could see some giant machines, coming in their way, ruthlessly knocking down all the trees in a devastating destruction. Now, they were,really, in dire straits. It was the end of their shelter and their food. They had to run away to an unknown forest, trying to survive another year.
