How many times have mom said to Mazzy stay away from candies? The answer is many times. When Mazzy was young, she got hooked up to sweetness. She did not believe in eating candies will bring her to teeth cavity easily even though Mazzy brushed her teeth twice a day. The main concern of Mom was not only about Mazzy's dental health. She was afraid people may look down on her daugther if she is taking so much pleasure on sweet stuff as Mom knows life is not all about enjoyment and sweet all the time. As a result, mom stopped buying her any candies for a month and hope to clean out her craving of sweetness in taste and possiblily in life.

Believe in: Believe in (a noun or gerund) — not believe in a (sentence)
Believe in eating candies — ok
Believe in eating candies will… — not ok.

Clean out: used with things. Clean out is used for a place. I used it for ‘the spirit’ in my story- that was metaphor. I treated ‘the spirit’ like a place. Sometimes we treat ‘the heart’ as a place, even though it cannot be touched. In your story, there is no ‘place’ that is being cleaned out so I changed the word to ‘end’.
