Is Learning
English Online Confusing You?
Are you getting confused by learning English online? Too many websites
saying too many different things?
I
was looking for good sites to recommend to my students and I began to
feel confused. There are simply too many sites.
Below I will give you some good ideas, and you can also find
lots of good ideas in this e-book, Click Here!
Don't Choose
Just One
Then
I saw that some sites try to do too much. The sites that
specialized in one aspect of English learning did better. I
told
my students, "Choose three or four sites. Each site is good
at a
different part of English."
Know Your Needs
You
have to decide what you need to study. Make a list of the
areas
you think you need to study and then choose the top three or four.
The next step is to find one site that is good at the
first area on your list. Then find a site that is good for
the
second area. Then the third.
Motivation
You
have to go back to your learning English online regularly.
Motivation is
important. I find that the best way to motivate myself is to
sit
down for ten minutes and make a mental image of myself. I
make it
positive, and attractive. I make the image include the new
skills
that I want to have. I clear my mind and then remember the
image.
Each time I make the image stronger and brighter, and a
little
bigger. Each time I make the skills I want to have even
better.
I can see
the skills. I can feel
the new skills. Then before I start to study, I recall this image
that I have made.
A Real Teacher?
If you are learning English online do you need a real teacher?
Yes!! This is
the best
way. You can go to a class. Or go to a virtual
class
(online). Either way, a real teacher is still better than a
computer for some things. The computer is good for helping
you
building simple skills.
Flashcards help you learn vocabulary.
Recordings help you build listening skills.
Grammar quizzes help you test your grammar and study it.
Online chats give you a chance to use English in a real conversation
(important!).
But a teacher can help guide you. You don't need a guide,
but you can progress faster with a guide.
Summary
Learning English online can be cost effective (cheap) and fast.
Remember these points:
- Choose three or four core sites to use and use
them a lot.
- Actively motivate yourself. Positive
motivation usually works best.
- Combine online study with a real teacher for
best results.
Basically,
keep it simple. Study regularly. Don't be
distracted by
bells and whistles, or great promises. Just do it.

The last three months felt like hell to Kaiko-san. She has
been beavering away at her work, and saving every
yen she earned. Her husband borrowed a lot of money a while
back, and then slipped off quietly, leaving Keiko
with the debt. For one month, she prayed she could meet him
one more time so she could lay into him for such
foolishness. Then she met with the loan company and they arrived
at an agreement about how fast to pay back
the money. Now, all she wants to do is pay back the
money.
