It is just to keep project going on

We were students in a same class.
We were committed to do a new project on a chemical issue.
An old friend got in the lab while we were working on the project. He always comes across as a naughty boy. He told us that he had talked to our tutor in order to join us in this project and the tutor agreed.
Actually, we did like him but we obliged to get along with him just to keep the project going on.
The old friend was trying to create a problem so we decided to talk over this issue. Finally, we agreed to forget the past and work together as a one team.
