Help starved people

Sharing others with their problems and feelings is not enough. We daily hears many people starve and die . Actually, no any serious action has been done yet.
I have decided to take an imitative to help those people .I have phoned my friend up .
I told them the rate of the starving people will not level off at least in the near future and your supports in this issue are required and highly appreciated.
I hold out my close friend and my wife to help me by chipping in.
My character longs for peace and help others wherever they are irrespective race , religion and color.

The meaning of the second last sentence is unclear; here is the meaning of hold out. I take the first meaning (number one below) and edited the story that way.

2. To continue to be in supply or service; last: Our food is holding out nicely.
3. To continue to resist: The defending garrison held out for a month.
4. To refuse to reach or satisfy an agreement.
