Free Study English Programs
Five Points to Help You Choose a Good Program

I
have noticed many people are
looking for free study English programs
on the internet. Indeed, there are many free programs on the
internet. How can you choose a good one?
1. Do you have to register?
Some of my students do not want to give out their e-mail addresses or
other personal information. You should consider the site when
you
are thinking about starting a free program. What do you think
they are trustworthy? Do they have an anti-spam policy?
Do they have products that they are trying to sell?
Upgrades?
What other information do they need from you?
2. How much do you have to work at them?
Is there a time commitment in this program? Do you have to be
awake at certain times to join a chat classroom (based in another
country)?
Of course, you may not make a commitment, but then you are not
serious about studying, and
you will probably get poor results.
On the other hand, when can access the program? For
instance, I would like to learn more Japanese using the iknow site.
But
I don't have spare time, so I cannot study on that site.
3. What skills do they help you learn?
Think about the free study English program that you are considering.
Does the program teach you grammar? Vocabulary?
Listening? A mixed set of skills?
If you already have a large knowledge grammar, but cannot speak
fluently, then you do not need to study more grammar; you need to
practice speaking it.
On the other hand, some sites offer
programs that are mostly vocabulary oriented, and that will not help
you study advanced grammar.
4. Are they teaching you anything new?
I have already studied lots of Japanese.
If I go to the iknow site,
I will get a great language review, but I will not learn a lot of new
vocabulary.
How about the free study English program you are using?
Does it teach you anything new? Or is it mostly
review? Perhaps you feel more comfortable with review.
Take some time to think about these things before you spend a
lot of your valuable time working on a free program.
5. Are they deep enough?
I noticed that some free study English programs have great beginner
level courses, but
they run out when you move on to more difficult content.
Will the program you are considering run out just when you are getting
better? Will the program support youy through to high levels,
so you can become fluent?

Mustafah
was very angry at his nephew three weeks ago. Mustafah works
hard
raising civet cats for musk, and earns a decent income but he is not
rich. His nephew studies at University, and got
carried away one night drinking with his friends.
As his nephew drove home, he dozed off
and had a car accident, causing a lot of damage. It
was
more damage than his parents could pay for, and Mustafah had to bail
his nephew out. Now he has trouble paying his own
debts. He knows he can't wish away his
problems. This adds up to a very unhappy
family and Mustafah has not talked to his brother or nephew for almost
three weeks.
