Faith

by Suela
(Brazil)

Since her childhood, she dreamed about going to the convent to study and become a nun. Her faith was so strong that every day she woke up, at the crack of dawn, climbed a small hill near her house, and, there she stood waiting for the sunrise. With her open arms, she prayed to God, to convince her parents let her follow her faith. She was an only child, and let her leave was too much difficult for her parents. Though they were religious people too, they looked down on the idea. Each day, she seemed weaker and paler. The joy of youth was fading in a inner fight, between her deep faith, determined will to become a servant of God, and her immense love and respect for her parents. One day, when she was climbing the hill, she felt dizzy and, suddenly, fainted. A heavy rain started falling, and she stood ther about half hour. Finally she could get up to go back home, but shaking febrile, it was necessay a great effort to do so. Later, when her parents arrived from the fields, where they worked, found her terribly sick. Immediately they called for help, and, fortunately, they could save her. Only then, they believed in her true vocation to be a nun and cleaned out the prejudice from their souls, letting her follow her faith. She lived about fifty years a saint life, helping abandoned children to stay away from the streets; founded an orphanage and helped children to find new homes. In the following years, their parents adopted five children that came to fill their house of joy.

Here is my edited version:

Since her childhood, she dreamed about going to the convent to study and become a nun. Her faith was so strong that every day she woke up at the crack of dawn, climbed a small hill near her house, and there she stood waiting for the sunrise. With her open arms, she prayed to God, to convince her parents to let her follow
her faith.

She was an only child, and to let her leave was much too difficult for her parents. Though they
were religious people too, they looked down on the idea. Each day, she seemed weaker and paler.
The joy of youth was fading in an inner fight, between her deep faith, and determined will to
become a servant of God, and her immense love and respect for her parents.

One day, when she was climbing the hill, she felt dizzy and suddenly fainted. A heavy rain
started falling, and she lay there for about half an hour. Finally she could get up to go back
home, but shaking and febrile, it took a great effort to do so.

Later, when her parents arrived from the fields, where they worked, they found her terribly
sick. Immediately they called for help, and, fortunately, they could save her. Only then did
they believe in her true vocation to be a nun and cleaned out the prejudice from their souls,
letting her follow her faith. She lived a saintly life of about fifty years, helping abandoned
children to stay away from the streets; she
founded an orphanage and helped children to find new homes. In the following years, their parents adopted five children that came to fill their house of joy.
