Do You Have a Daily Washing Face Routine?

...many Japanese people wash their face in the morning. I was more surprised to hear that they did not take a shower in the morning but then I realized they take a bath every evening, so I felt less surprised.

I wonder what the custom is in other countries? Is taking a bath or a shower more common? How about a daily routine for washing your face in the morning? How about the evening? I have travelled to many countries, but I did not live there, so I don't actually know the daily routines in many places.

As you listen to this daily face washing routine, pick out the words that surprised you or are new. Think about what words come before them and after them, to learn the patterns. Lots of shadowing should make it easy to make this English your own.

Remember, don't read it everytime you listen! Just read it once every four or five times you shadow this story.

daily routine bath.

Do you have a daily washing face routine? I don't and never have. You see, when I came to Japan, I just kept all my Canadian habits. I got up and had a shower in the morning. Since I had a shower, there was no need of course, to wash my face.

Then I was surprised to learn that...

Here is the script for the Washing Face Routine.

Daily Washing Face Routine

Phil washes his face right after he gets up in the morning. He gets up and stumbles to the bathroom in the darkness because he is still groggy. Waking up is difficult for Phil and washing his face makes it easier to wake up a bit.

He likes to use the scented soap that he finds in the supermarket next to the toothpaste. He likes the scent and he also heard about aroma therapy. He heard that some aromas can help wake you up and others make you sleepy. He does not know if the scent in his soap is the one that helps you wake up, but he likes to think it helps anyway.

After he washes his face, he likes to stand there with water dripping off his face, looking at himself in the mirror. He says how much he likes himself out loud as he looks in the mirror. This routine helps him get the day started right.
