4. tire of - to have one's appreciation, interest, patience, etc., exhausted; become or be weary; become bored
5. call off - to cancel (something) that had been planned for a certain date



Mary was tired of waiting his boyfriend. He had said he would spend three months in another country, where he was going to make a perfectioning course, and after this time, he would come back. Their marriage was already scheduled. However, before it, they needed to fix up the house they had bought. It had already passed one month from the deadline he had set to come back, and he had stopped to call to her. That day she decided to cut short their relationship, even if he came back. It was difficult for her to call off what she had been planning for years. But suddenly, someone called to her, asking what her name was. After she having answered, the voice the other side of the line said: “ We have here a patient that was unconscious for days, and he just woke up. He gave us your phone number to call to you.” Mary got paralyzed. Arriving to the hospital and being sorry about what she thought to do, she crying started apologizing. Paul in a weak voice, gently said : I was going back home when the accident hapened.
