About Les Perras

I have my own English language school in Ikoma, Nara-ken, in Japan. It is a franchise called Smith's School of English. I love working in my own school! (especially after years of working in other people's schools...)

I started off in Canada, where I graduated with a degree in Science and another in Education. I have taught science in Alberta, Canada, and Lestotho, in Africa (two years).

I moved to Japan in 1998, and have worked here teaching English, as well as a one year hiatus as a tour conductor (in Japanese!! I took Japanese tourists on tours here in Japan!).

I have studied several langauges (French, Sesotho, and Japanese), and I can speak Japanese with some reasonable proficiency.

Teaching my own students here in my school showed me the need for better listening practice materials. I prepared most of these materials for use in my school, and one thing led to another and I have this site that you are reading.

I have two degrees from the University of Alberta in Canada; one in science, and one in education.

Family Guy

I have beautiful wife and two great boys, now aged five years, and the other, five months. After my part time work, and working in my school, I spend time with them. (after that, I work on this site)
